Adam Clarke's Commentary

Introduction

This chapter contains threatenings of the heavy judgments of God against the Ammonites, Eze 25:1-7; Moabites, Eze 25:8-11; Edomites, Eze 25:12-14; and Philistines, Eze 25:15-17; on account of their hatred to his people, and their insulting them in the time of their distress. These prophecies were fulfilled by the instrumentality of Nebuchadnezzar, about five years after the destruction of Jerusalem. The same events were predicted by several of the other prophets, as may be seen from the citation of parallel texts in the margin. Verse 1 The word of the Lord - The chronological order of this chapter is after Eze 33:21, etc. See Abp. Newcome.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Ezekiel 25:1-7
Judgments against the Ammonites. (Ezek 25:1-7) Against the Moabites, Edomites, and Philistines. (Ezek 25:8-17) Verses 1-7 . It is wicked to be glad at the calamities of any, especially of God's people; it is a sin for which he will surely reckon. God will make it appear that he is the God of Israel, though he suffers them for a time to be captives in Babylon. It is better to know Him, and to be poor, than to be rich and ignorant of him.
